The Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV) arrangements commenced in Queensland on 27 October 2016.
SHEVs provide an opportunity for eligible asylum seekers to progress to permanent residency by working and/or studying in regional areas.
The Australian Government is responsible for immigration decisions, including the granting of SHEVs. The Queensland Government has worked with the Australian Government to implement the SHEV arrangements in Queensland.
More information, including an interactive map where users can search by postcode to check if an area is regional, is available on the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Border Protection website. This website also includes useful resources and details of SHEV pathway requirements.
