Elder Abuse happens. Know the signs, make it stop.

This year’s campaign ‘Elder abuse happens. Know the signs, make it stop’ highlighted the most common signs of elder abuse, and encouraged Queenslanders to call the helpline if they suspect an older person in their life is being abused and needs help.

If you suspect someone you know is experiencing elder abuse, don’t wait for proof. Call the Elder Abuse Helpline on 1300 651 192 for free confidential information and referrals. Helpline operators are available between 9am and 5pm weekdays.

You can also access online materials that we provided to support and promote the campaign.

Grandparents Day

Celebrated annually in October, Grandparents Day is a chance for grandchildren, children and the community to thank grandparents for their love and support.

Get involved in Grandparents Day by doing something special with your grandparents, or organising an event with your school or community group.

Disability Action Week

Disability Action Week is held annually in September with the aim of empowering people with disability, raising awareness of disability issues, and improving access and inclusion throughout the wider community. Each year we support community groups and organisations to host events during the week.
