The NDIS is a new way of providing people with disability across Australia with support to meet their disability needs and link with their community.

The scheme supports people with a permanent and significant disability to take part in everyday activities. This includes people whose disability is an intellectual, sensory or physical impairment, or a psychiatric condition.

Rollout dates

The NDIS commenced roll out to Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday local government areas on 1 November 2016.

People with disability in the Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday local government areas can submit a request to access the NDIS now.

Turning 65

Applicants must be under 65 years old on the date their request to access the NDIS is received by the National Disability Insurance Agency.
